DECOLONIZING CHILDHOOD

A 6-Week Program for Parents, Educators, and Immigrants

By Sarah Elahi / Raising Resistance

The framework you were raised inside was not neutral. Neither is the one you're passing on.

Most of us didn't choose the beliefs we carry about childhood — about discipline, obedience, intelligence, whose knowledge counts, whose story gets told. We inherited them. And most of us are passing them on to our children right now, not because we want to, but because we have never been given the language or the space to examine them.

That is what this program is for.

WHO THIS IS FOR

A parent, educator, or immigrant — or all three — who has felt the tension between the values you hold and the frameworks you were handed. You have noticed the colonial assumptions baked into your child's curriculum, your own childhood, your family's relationship with assimilation. You have things you want to unlearn. Stories you want to tell that the mainstream doesn't have space for.

You don't need an academic background. You need honesty and an hour a week.

WHAT YOU DO

SEE IT — Weeks 1 & 2 Name the colonial frameworks operating in your home, your childhood, or your classroom.

FEEL IT — Weeks 3 & 4 Move from intellectual understanding into personal reckoning. Find harmful systems not in the abstract but in your own body, your own parenting, your own inherited fears.

DO IT — Weeks 5 & 6 Build concrete tools and rituals for raising children—including your inner child— differently. Leave with commitments you are actually ready to keep.

Each week includes a written lesson, audio recording, short video, curated reading list, one writing prompt, and one action step. Fully self-paced. Lifetime access.

You will read from: Robin Wall Kimmerer, Bayo Akomolafe, Toni Morrison, Frantz Fanon, Gloria Anzaldúa, Celine Semaan, adrienne maree brown, Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Audre Lorde, bell hooks, Octavia Butler, and others.

WHAT YOU GET

Language for things you have always felt but never been able to name. A personal map of the frameworks operating in your history. Writing and reflection practices you can sustain long after the six weeks end. And if the program opens something that needs more space, an invitation to continue in 1:1 coaching.

ABOUT SARAH

I'm Sarah Elahi : writer, educator, and founder of Raising Resistance. I have 17 years of teaching experience, an MA in Child Study and Human Development from Tufts, and a published book. I am also an immigrant, a Muslim, and a solo parent who has been doing this specific unlearning for a decade — not as an academic exercise but as a daily, embodied practice.

I didn't build this program from theory. I built it from the inside.

"Sarah brings her depth of knowledge as an educator, her lived experience as an immigrant parent in a white community, her deeply rooted anti-oppression politics, and her relentless empathy to every conversation. I am a better parent and a better person because of her work." — Maya, Somerville MA
